The BSCC End
of the Year Competition has finally come and gone. There were over 100 print
and 200 digital entries for judges (above) John Hopkins, Pete Mathews and Bob Denny to
ascertain the best of the photos entered for 2011-2012 competition. Our judges
were thorough, deliberate and patient as their final choices were selected.
And the winners are…for best print of the year
the honor goes to seasoned photographer, Jim Lynch, for his ‘Sun Flower with
Bee’ photo. Jim also received 2nd, 3rd, 4th
and 5th place. His unique approach evokes well planned composition,
color and attention to stylistic details (above).
Taking 1st
place in the digital photos was Tom McDonough for his photo ‘Sun Set Tree’ (right), a tranquil
silhouette of a tree surrounded by the fading blues and hues of the burning sky
merging as the sun sets on Lake Michigan.
2ndplace, 'iPhone Orchard' and 3rd Place, 'Ginko Pile',Digital of the Year went to Suzanne Anderson (left).
Shelly
Martinez won 4th Place for her photo ‘Juneau From Above’ (left) and Glenda
Davidson was awarded 5th Place for her photo ‘Leaf Pattern’ (lower right).
The shutter
for the 2011-2012 is almost closing as we approach our last meeting June 6,
2012 at 6:30 p.m. It’s a potluck, so bring along your favorite dish and come
watch the End of the Year Slide Show, featuring all the accepted photos for
this year’s competition. Come join us for an evening of fun and sharing.
