March Meeting

A big thanks to Art Robertson for his presentation of Fun with Fisheyes for our March meeting. In his power point he included both pros and cons for using a fisheye lens with lots of photo examples. A fisheye lens is a wide-angle lens with a field of vision covering up to 180 degrees, the scale being reduced toward the edges. The fisheye can be used for artistic effects such as:

- manipulating the relative size of objects to make them stand out or appear smaller,

-manipulating spaces to make them seem expansive,

-providing an unusual point of view,

-capturing broad vistas and big objects,

-providing the ability to shoot in small spaces.

Art suggests being aware of extraneous clutter that may be enhanced with a fisheye lens.

During our meeting members also helped critique one another's images considering clarity of focus, unnecessary extraneous objects, lighting and exposure, white balance, emotional response or interest, and general suggestions for creating a better image.

Pictured is an example of a fisheye image featuring Art and his big feet.
