The Berrien Springs Camera Club will
meet on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the Berrien Springs Community Library at
Cass and Union.
The program will be presented by Jim
Lynch, a member of this club and other local camera clubs. During club
competitions he is the man to beat; it has become a standard joke that Jim wins
most of the awards. Members joke good-naturedly, but they greatly admire his
ability to visualize a beautiful scene and then to capture it with both
artistry and technical expertise.
Last year Lynch presented images and
tips from his long experience of photographing birds. Another specialty of his
is lighthouses, the subject of this next club presentation. He says, “We
started searching for lighthouses in the Great Lakes area in the mid-‘80s and
have since traveled the shorelines of the Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico, and the
Pacific Oceans of the U.S., and the Great Lakes of Canada, the Maritimes, and
most of the St. Lawrence Seaway.” For this club meeting, Jim will show some of
his favorite lighthouses, tell us about their history and the fun of searching
for them, and share some tips for improving our shots of lighthouses.
All are welcome. Refreshments will
be served.
